HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Carol’s Cupboard: The Kosher Food Bank
Let all who are hungry come and eat…
The Kosher Food Bank provides food for more than 70 families in need. At Passover, this number jumped to 90 families requiring our support.
Our current Carol’s Cupboard initiatives include:
- Monthly hampers filled with kosher food items – including a shabbat chicken, challah, dried goods, canned goods, and hygiene items – for families in need (including delivery for those needing to practice physical distancing)
- 30 free weekly meals given out as part of our Food4U program with Adas Israel Synagogue, Chef Max Bida, and the Hamilton Jewish Federation. Since COVID-19, 180 meals have been given out weekly basis. We are also ensuring other meals through this program are available at-cost to those interested (available for curbside pick-up or delivery)
- Volunteer-led community garden sites at Temple Anshe Sholom/Kehila Heschel Community Day School and the Hamilton Hebrew Academy. These gardens are growing herbs, tomatoes, beets, potatos, and more
- Gift cards to help families secure additional kosher items like cheese, milk, or frozen food items.
We invite you to help us support families in need today. Every dollar donated is put towards making sure no one in our community goes hungry.
In co-operation with Temple Anshe Sholom/Kehila Heschel Community Day and the Hamilton Hebrew Academy Carol’sCupboard is able to provide fresh produce during the spring and summer months.By donating to this fund, HJFS will be to have supplies to grow fresh produce.

TRIBUTE CARDS AND Monthly Giving
By purchasing a tribute card, or by becoming a monthly donor to HJFS, you help to support our programs and services. Your actions mean that we can do things like provide friendly calling to an isolated Senior, offer mental health counselling to the struggling newcomer, offer employment counselling to a single-parent, feed a family on Shabbat, and so much more.
With a minimum donation of $25 a month, you will help us fight hunger year-round, and make sure that the vulnerable – at a time when we are all vulnerable – are supported.
