Hamilton Jewish Family Services offers a wide range of adult social and educational programs.   Currently all programs are on ZOOM expect for Kibitz Corner which is a telephone based program.

J-Walk:  Walking for wellness

J-WALK is a simple walking club for individuals 55+.   This is a great way to stay fit, meet other active people, and discover new places to walk in the community.

J-WALK meets every Monday at 10:30 am at JHamilton, 1605 Main Street West.  Cost is free but registration is required.

healing Plants

Our earliest human ancestors found plants to heal wounds, cure diseases, and ease troubled minds. People on all continents have long used hundreds, if not thousands, of indigenous plants, for treatment of various ailments dating back to prehistory. 

Join us as the RBG explains these healing plants and speak about their newly restored Healing Garden at the RBG.

Hamilton’s Economic Covid Response

A panel discussion focusing on where/are the major economic hurdles impacting Hamilton residents during COVID.

Learn what steps, projects, policies and initatives are currently being worked and being considered in Hamilton to assist small businesses and the unemployed,  and ways to bolster Hamilton economy, or support the people who were affected by the closures due to COVID.

Fire safety for seniors

Fires are a serious danger, but those over the age of 65 are even more at risk. Seniors are more than twice as likely to die in a fire as the general population. Once a senior gets over 85, that risk quadruples. So, while fires pose a risk to all of us, it’s important to make sure you know how to proctect yourself in the case of unexpected combustion.

During this zoom event the Hamilton Fire Department will share some great advice about fire safety to keep us safe.

Sometimes all it takes is a glance to find the place of origin; other times it may take some deeper investigation. Life and Death on the Streets

Margaret Jacobson was woman who grew up playing piano and accordion in Barbados and died after years of experiencing homelessness in Hamilton.  She was known at the shelters as Princess Margaret.

Join us for an discussion with the author DENISE DAVY.  Davy is a journalist who specializes in mental health.

Kibitz corner

Kibitz Corner is a phone based program providing education and recreational programing in a fun and interactive atmosphere.

Programs run Monday thru Thursday at 11 am and are open to all.

KIBitz corner Basics:

  • Completely free program.
  • Programs are multi-person phone conversations (or conference calls).
  • No special equipment needed – just your average phone!
  • Call yourself in to the program, or we can call you – it’s your choice!
  • Each phone session is 30 minutes in length.
  • Each phone session averages between 5 – 10 people on the call.
  • You are able to hear each other, talk to one another, learn, and/or just have fun!
